2007 Chinese Festival kick-off meeting- Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006
Attendees: Juliet Hsiao, K.F. Lin, Jane Zhou, Wei Wei Hsu, Merle Shao, Theresa Fou, Bess Tieh, Mai-Jane Lin, Floyd Ho, Eileen Chao, Sun Wei, Yu Zhong Chen, Zhongsen Li, Taini Hsu
Date of Festival: June 22, 23 and 24.
Theme of Festival: Chinese Theatre, our program, exhibition and activities shall
be presented in association with the “theme”.
Meeting schedule: committee meets once a month which will be Jan. 20,
Feb.24, March 24, April.21, May 19, and June 9 before the
Festival. All meeting will start at 10am at CACC.
Budget: CACC has budgeted $5000 for the Festival. Each committee shall submit budget
for reviewing by next meeting (Jan. 20).
General Service: CACC manager office and building maintenance committee will fully
support the request of equipments and supplies from each committee.
All the request shall be submitted to CACC office by Feb. meeting.
Program
The Kunqu Society from New York will perform “Princess of Floret”
on Saturday, June 23 at 4:30pm and 7pm. Their expenses will be excluded from the Festival budget and be covered by the grant from the state. Other program’s budget will be in the range of $1200-1500.
Dragon dance will need to recruit some new blood to perform and shall be scheduled to practice as early as possible.
The whole program content and schedule shall be submitted by March meeting.
Exhibition/craft:
This year will have three theme exhibitions with demonstrations which are Tea House, Chinese cuisine house and Chinese brush painting & calligraphy house.
The schedules of demonstration as well as performance shall be coordinated beforehand to avoid the conflict of each other.
Community exhibition shall follow CACC rule which will be decided by the CACC board.
Public Relation:
According to the new rule, road sign only be allowed for election purpose.
This year banner and sign will be only displayed at CACC premises.
CACC website and “Chinese Festival website” need to be updated. Will contact Shangyou Zhang to take care.
Press release shall be prepared for the publicity. Will ask Merle Shao to make a
draft.
Fund Raising:
This year we will make an effort targeting on private donor. We believe that “accumulation of small amount results in a huge quantity.”
Tea house will seek funding for their expenses.
Juliet Wu will lead the fund raising effort. Everyone who has the connection of potential donor is welcome to join Juliet Wu.
Hospitality:
CACC will send out the invitation to the guest. DCAA will provide the list from Chinese Embassy.
Need to form a “spoke person” team to address the interview of radio or TV station.
Food court:
Eileen Chao will lead the food committee and follow the vendor rule which was set up on 2005 Chinese Festival.
Equipment request shall be submitted by March meeting.
Broad casting:
Zhigang Li will in charge of the broadcasting booth. Please recruit students from both of two Chinese schools.
CACC will issue community service certificate to the students according to their service hours.
Children Activity: Sun Wei will lead the activities and to combine the theme “Chinese
Theatre” with the activities.
Parking:
Yu Zhong Chen will in charge of manpower for three days’ coverage which will be paid by CACC without meal tickets.
Parking fee will remain as $3.00 per car which excluding the volunteers and vendor.
We will expect the decrease of income from the parking this year because the available parking lot at North Star Elementary school.
Drink sale: Zhongsen Li will lead the Ping Pong club to sell the drink.
T-shirt and Flyer: Juliet Hsiao agrees to design this year’s T-shirt and flyer.
Meal ticket: only for volunteer performance.
